The Ski’s The Limit

The Ski’s The Limit

Farncombe Estate is excited to announce future plans to bring a taste of the snowy slopes of Courchevel to the Cotswolds, with the launch of a giant ski slope within its leafy grounds. Set to open in Summer 2022, the new ski slope builds on the success of the pop-up alpine-themed Piste bar and restaurant concept previously held at Farncombe Estate’s Dormy House each winter. What better outdoor activity to enjoy on a summer’s day in the English countryside than taking to the slopes in your salopettes?!

The 175-metre slope, modelled on a section of the red run, Allamande, in Courchevel, will be constructed in a prime location on the 400-acre Farncombe Estate. It will be available to guests of Dormy House, The Fish and Foxhill Manor, as well as local visitors, and will be open to adults and children of all skiing ability. To create the slope, Farncombe is using the latest and most realistic artificial surface that has been described by industry experts as “the closest thing to real snow”. There will be two ski-lifts, a dedicated ski-school area for juniors and a separate section for snowboarders. Tubing and Tobogganing will also be offered.

More interested in après ski activities? The new ski slope will also feature a 120-seat alpine inspired restaurant, created by Culinary Director and keen skier, Martin Burge. On offer will be mountain food favourites such as fondue, Tirole Grosti and Tartiflette, served with views over the rolling English countryside.

“In previous years, many revellers have flocked to our alpine bar and restaurant pop-up, Piste, and urged us to create a ski slope for them to enjoy all year-round, and we’ve listened to their request. And with everything that has happened over the last twelve months, now more than ever, we feel it’s the right time to create a ski staycation right here in the heart of the Cotswolds. If the new facility proves successful which I have snow doubt it will, this could be the start of wider expansion into the popular winter sports world here at Farncombe.” commented Andrew Grahame, CEO of the Farncombe Estate.

More details on the plans will be shared in due course.
