Shopping List
For your fantastically fruity crumble, you will need the following ingredients:
For your fruity filling
- 4 Bramley apples
- 300g Yorkshire rhubarb
- 150g caster sugar
- 50ml water
For your beautifully crumbly topping:
- 200g plain flour
- 100g unsalted butter
- 100g caster sugar
- 50g porridge oats
- 25g sunflower seeds
How to achieve pud perfection…
- Firstly, peel your apples and remove the core. Then roughly cut your apples into 2cm cubes.
- Next cut your rhubarb to roughly the same size as your apples.
- Place the chopped apple and rhubarb into a pan with your water and sugar.
- Cover with a lid and place on a low heat and simmer for a few minutes.
- Then remove the lid and increase the heat, cooking the mixture until the liquid has evaporated.
- Then place the mixture into a dish and allow chill before baking.
- Next it’s time to add our topping…
- To make your topping, rub your butter, flour and sugar together to form a fine crumb.
- Then add porridge oats and sunflower seeds and mix.
- Evenly place the mix on top of the apple and rhubarb mixture.
- Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for around 30- 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Serve with a hearty dollop of vanilla custard. Enjoy!
