David’s Fakeaway Pizza
Make the most of your leftovers and bring a taste of Italy to the dinner table with Head Chef David Hall’s fakeaway pizza, the perfect Friday night treat.
From a massive meat feast of pepperoni and bacon to an all veggie combination, it’s entirely up to you how you choose to top your creation (apart from pineapple, which is just wrong) and the perfect opportunity to make the most of your leftovers.
This recipe is quick and simple and great for getting the kids helping out in the kitchen and talking about food. Did someone say double win?
To make the pizza dough you will need:
500g flour (pasta flour or strong bread flour)
325ml warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
14g dried yeast
For the topping:
Keep it simple with tomato and cheese or go wild and add anything you want as a topping. You could even try a chocolate pizza for dessert, it has just been Easter after all!
In a bowl add 2tbsp olive oil and 2tsp salt with the 500g of strong bread flour (or pasta flour it’s up to you).
Slowly add 325ml of warm water and 14g yeast to flour, whilst mixing. This will create your dough.
Remove from the bowl and stretch and fold the dough to activate the gluten.
Drizzle a bowl with olive oil, then ball up your dough place the dough in and cover with cling film.
Wait until the dough has doubled in size, then roll it out as needed.
Now it’s time to get create with your toppings (perfect to use leftovers).
Once it’s decorated to perfection, place in the over on 210 degrees for 10 minutes.
Then tuck in!
And the verdict on homemade pizza is…
