Jam-tastic Doughnuts

Bash’s Jam-tastic Doughnuts

It’s National Doughnut Day, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity to share Bash’s jamtastic doughnuts! Golden brown, dusted with vanilla sugar and filled to the brim with fresh strawberry jam, these treats are enough to satisfy any sweet tooth. So without further a dough…here’s how to make them at home!

How to make your doughnuts!

Put all the ingredients, expect the butter, in a mixing bowl and mix for 8 minutes with the dough hook on a low speed. Then leave your dough to rest for 10 minutes.

Next on a medium speed slowly add the soft butter and mix for a further 5 minutes.

The dough should be nice and glossy, coming away from the edge of the bowl and making a slapping noise near the end of mixing against the bowl.

Leave to prove in an oiled bowl and cover with cling film.

When the dough has doubled in size weigh into 50g balls.

Shape into nice tight balls and leave to prove on a floured tray and cover with cling film.

When proved fry at 160 degrees for two minutes on each side. If you do it at 180 degrees you will get a nice colour quicker but it will be raw in the middle. Degrade on kitchen roll and toss in vanilla sugar whilst still warm.

Leave to cool before making a hole in the middle of the doughnut and filling with jam.

Then they’re ready to eat. Enjoy!

Double trouble…

They’re also good for burger buns! Which means you can make dinner and pud out of the same recipe!

To make them into burger buns, roll your dough into 100g balls instead before the second prove and bake in the over for around 20 minutes on 180 degrees. You’re welcome!
