Artistic Licence in Sketching and Watercolour

We explore the perpetual artistic dilemmas: whether to go for detail and realism or to work loose and free? What to put in and what to leave out? Dare I include people in my landscape?
Many artists now use photographic as well as sketch reference material, and one aspect of this course will show you how to combine the two.
Various subjects, compositional devices and techniques will be demonstrated and tried out. Although no firm conclusions will be reached, you will be made more aware of your artistic direction as well as improving your skills.
Some watercolour knowledge useful, but not essential. The emphasis will be on enjoyment.
