Painting with Nature: The Broadway Gardens of the Artist and Garden Designer Alfred Parsons

The artist Alfred Parsons first came to Broadway on holiday in 1885 and it was through him that a coterie of friends, including John Singer Sargent de-camped from London and made Broadway their home. Parsons’ effusive nature and interest in art, nature and plants led to spirited friendships and design of several gardens in the village, including eventually, his own. This lavishly illustrated talk will tell the story of Parsons’ life and how he came to shape some of the hidden spaces of Broadway and his influence on other gardens of the Edwardian era.
