Introduction to Machine Embroidery

Learn the full potential of your sewing machine and explore the fascinating techniques of machine embroidery. You will need a swing needle machine with the ability to lower or cover the feed dog to allow free machining. We will start with exploring the automatic stitches on your machine to create interesting surfaces with applied ribbons and fancy fabrics, use machine appliqué techniques and work through to free machine embroidery on painted backgrounds and soluble fabrics. You will create a range of samples which can be used on bags, cushions or clothing, or to inform further creative embroidery. Some materials will be available from the tutor for a small additional cost.
