Advent is a season when different themes emerge - the light of Christ shining in the darkness, waiting in hope and expectation for the coming of Christ - both at Christmas and his coming in Judgement. The whole concept of waiting and uncertainty runs counter to our contemporary culture of instant gratification - and in fact we often experience a keen sense of God's absence rather than his presence.
The Church has a long and rich tradition of music reflecting the different moods of the season. We shall explore motets, carols and hymns which reflect these Advent themes. Come and enjoy a wide diversity of music as part of your preparation for the Christmas season. We finish the weekend singing our Advent Service at 4.00 pm in one of the beautiful churches within a few miles of Farncombe. The weekend will finish at approximately 5.00pm
