Gypsy Fiddle- explore the joyful passion and the deep melancholy of Hungarian Gypsy music!

In this course will learn various fiddle tunes from Hungary and beyond, concentrating very much on the special feel each piece expresses, and how to realize this on the violin – via ornamentation, phrasing and special technicalities. Gundula will teach you how to either construct or improvise those rubato, sometimes virtuoso introductions or interludes that are famous for this music.
This fiddle course is suitable for mixed levels, as many basic Gypsy fiddle tunes are easy, ornamentation and embellishments can make them into virtuoso pieces. No previous knowledge of this style of music is necessary. The accordionist Zivorad Nikolic will be joining the course for a jam session and performance.
Please bring a violin, a recording device and music stand for the jam would be useful.
